Vista Update Problem?
I have a new laptop running Vista Home Premium that has been upgraded
via auto updates. One of the updates listed in the update history as
installed (KB938194) popped up when I was looking for a solution to
difficulities upgrading video drivers. When I checked the actual
version numbers for some of the files that were to be upgraded by
KB938194 I discovered they were not the versions listed in the upgrade
info (much older and w/ lower version numbers). I also did a search
by name for a couple of the files that were to be upgraded and found
the upgrade version numbers were in a folder named "winsxs" (but the
versions in my system directories were all older/lower number as if
the upgrade did not get installed).
I downloaded the 32 bit standalone installer for KB938194 and
attempted to install it but received an error message stating "The
update does not apply to your system".
Any ideas why the file version numbers are not consistant with
Microsoft info or why the standalone installer did not work?
TIA for your help!
