View settings won't hold

Vista's view settings seem to have a mind of it's own on my computer. I
usually use 'medium icons' but on some files I use 'details' Some days the
settings hold but on other days they change on their own. Occasionally I
need to reset 3-4 times in the same day. Does anyone know the registry
setting that controls this function?

Here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local
Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell

Some report that deleting the Bags and BagMRU subkeys, and then rebooting,
helps this issue.

Look at method two in this tutorial for how to reset all folder views.
It will fix you problem.
