File Explorer Delays/General Strange Behaviour

Hi, hope someone might be able to shed some light on this...

I work for a company where all of us have the same Laptop (Tosh Sat
Pro A120, 1GB and Intel T5600 proc).

We are all experiencing the same problem in Vista, when attaching,
opening or saving a file. In the file explorer window, performance is
generally slow when using the 'Desktop' or 'Recent Docs' links on the
left, but if we use the 'Look In' dropdown heirarchy then the
application explorer was launched from gives up the ghost for up to 5
minutes.

Occasionally, a 'ghost' drop down menu then remains on screen for the
next 10-15 minutes, blocking everything behind it.

Strange one I know... any ideas??
