I personally have found them to be no better and no worse than most
review rags when it comes to product opinions. In other words I ignore
90% of them.

However his comment about Kaspersky is spot on. It is constantly near
the top of any review and works really well. My only gripe with it is I
feel it is over priced.

and the next guy swears by NOD32, the guy after that swears by AVAST,
the next fellow won't use anything but
AVG.... heck, I tried AVG and didn't like it one bit. also didn't like
McAfee (besides, I onced worked for them, in software testing...
LOL!). NIS2007 works well for me in Vista, yet it's a dog in XP (keeps
the HD busy for much too long after a bootup). different strokes. I
always take reviews with a large dose of salt.

My criteria includes adequate protection from viruses and malware, AND,
equally important, unintrusive behavior. I don't like seeing a window
pop up from the virus checker, during boot up. Scanning should take
place in the background, and not place an undue burden on the pc while
doing so. NIS2007 does well in that regard, in Vista. With a 3 seat
license for $30 (on sale), I consider it a good deal. However, I'm not
gonna sit here and claim it's the right product for every user.

Well David,
in fact they aren't reviews per se because that is a subjective view of a
group of items software etc.....
these are controlled tests in which a system has had its disk imaged and
then each piece of AV software installed and various nasties thrown at it
and the number it catches is recorded and its 'footprint'checked to see how
much of the systems resources it affects.
Then the system is wiped and the disk reset to its former blank state and
the next AV program installed and tested ensuring that each program is
tested in the same way...
but as I said previously you use what you feel comfortable (with which for
me means Kaspersky)

Regards SiG

I hear ya. I'm sure Kaspersky must be a capable AV program, though I've
not tried it personally.

Yup....
They set up a special network system and hit it with various
virii and malware and Kaspersky caught most of em......certainly a lot more
than Norton and Mcafee and NOD32 etc
anyways ya pays ya money and takes ya chances!
Me?......... I'm quite happy with kaspersky

Regards SiG
Now i use kaspersky6 and have issues with it i always gett an error (A CHANGE HAS BEEN MADE TO YOUR LIC) the it gives a error code that relates to anti virus software (kaspersky)
So i'm thinking of changing.

On the contrary, many of think that any Norton product is the *worst*
possible choice.

I really like what AVG is doing. Can't imagine anything working better for
free. As good as it gets.
