I never suggested anything about One Care.
You should not make such assumptions since assumptions tend to be
wrong very often.

Especially yours. You will find no harsher critics of Microsoft than MVP's.
You having been paying attention.

Correct, no assumption on my part.
Perhaps you missed the others recommending other solutions.

Or maybe you simply fixated on the one who recommended a Microsoft
solution while ignoring there were other solutions by other MVPs.
The MVPs recommended different products based on their experience and
is typical of any group consisting of thousands.

Most, MVPs and others as well, have their favorite products and
recommend accordingly.
There is no expectation that anyone favor a particular product from a
specific manufacturer.

Re: What is the best Anti-Virus For Vista?
To add just a little to the confusion...
All of the anti virus products mentioned have some value.

The worst can perform better than what may otherwise be considered the
best.
What can make the difference?
Which is the user willing to learn how to properly use?

Personally I hate McAfee and Norton anti virus since they are such
resource hogs.
But if someone is familiar with one of them and unwilling to learn
about any other, Norton or McAfee may very well be best for them since
that is what they are willing to use.

My suggestion:
AVG
or
NOD 32

So many opinions on what is best, underscores the fact that no ONE
product is "THE" answer for everyone. AAMOF, I have no complaints with
NIS2007 when used in Vista, but in XP it is a complete PITA. I can't
open programs for many minutes in XP, after a reboot, as the hard drive
is getting hit big time by NIS2007. I don't have that issue with the
corporate edition (an older edition) and may reinstall it soon.

I agree Ed,... KAspersky is very good (its what I use also) and was ranked
top in one of the PC magazine tests(PC Pro?) due to its detection rate,
Price and small footprint.......incidentially the 2nd top rated one was
freeware called Avir or Anti-vir?.... can't remember exactly but it was
highly rated.

HTH....... SiG :-)

Yup....
They set up a special network system and hit it with various
virii and malware and Kaspersky caught most of em......certainly a lot more
than Norton and Mcafee and NOD32 etc
anyways ya pays ya money and takes ya chances!
Me?......... I'm quite happy with kaspersky

Regards SiG
