Taskbar icons do not function after a Unexpected Shutdown.

If vista goes through an unexpected shutdown and restarts, the taskbar icons
(such as IE7) do not function. I have to start Task Manager to kill
Explorer.exe and restart it. Is there anything I can do, or have you seen
this before?

Solver

Anything, and I mean ANYTHING, can happen with an unexpected shutdown. You
got off easy if the only thing you had to do was restart explorer.

The problem you need to address first is the cause of the unexpected
shutdown.
