Disk Tranfer rated at 5.1, but slow as pond water

Yeah its true..when loading an application it seems to take forever. Also
loading data, eg Windows Mail loading list of news groups take LONG time
compared to a box with only 1/4 the power.

Its got a Maxtor UDMA 133 w/16 mb cache.

Sounds like the drive is doing a freaking defrag when it needs data/loading.
Installed only 6 months with little use and defrags /disk clean up a few
days ago with no difference.
Oh, and its the Business Edition.

I don't think it's your harddrive.
It sounds more like you don't have enough free RAM. How much RAM do you
have? Also, check if there are programs that use a large amount of memory.

I got a gig and I have the performance monitor running. On average I use
between 50-75%.

I was planning to buy a 2 gig pair within two weeks.
The drive still runs like this even at 50% memory usage.
