wont restart/shutdown

my vista does not restart or shutdown i have to manually crash it, none of
the shutdown/restart/logoff buttons do a thing but crash it. i been sending
this error report for 6 months now, i'll be doing nothing untill one of you
kind souls can help me. thankyou so much!!!!!, in advance
