First, you should install the update from:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;922120
on the XP machine. Then, on Vista, disable IPv6 as follows:
1. In Control Panel, click on Network and Internet.
2. Click the Network Sharing Center
3. On the left, click Manage Network Connections.
4. Right-click your Local Area Connection (or the connection for the
affected adapter) and select Properties.
5. Remove the checkmark next to Internet Protocol 6 (TCP/IPv6).
6. Click OK.
I think that these last 6 steps may be the actual solution to the problem.
