Vista and sharepoint
Having lots of problems with sharepoint. Running WSS2.0 on my SBS server,
and WSS3.0 on a networked W2K3 server.
I can map a drive to a sharepoint document library. However, next time I
log in there is a big red cross through the shortcut and it doesn't work.
Doesn't ask for authentication and just refuses access because "the user has
not been authenticated".
I can create a new network place linked to a document library. However next
login it may allow me to access the library after requesting authentication,
or it may ask for my password repeatedly and then refuse entry.
If I open Recent Items and click on a document from a document library it
tells me that the 'item that the shortcut refers to has been moved or
deleted'.
I often cannot save from 3rd party programs (or even IE) to sharepoint
folders. I have to save to the HDD then manually move the file to sharepoint.
Today I attempted to open a zip file that was saved into a sharepoint
folder. I probably should have known better but the same file opened with
barely any hesitation on an XP machine. My machine seized up. I couldn't do
anything, not even start Task Manager. After 10 minutes I got a dialog.
Something about failing authentication. Computer was still locked so I was
forced to reboot.
None of these problems occur on XP machines within the same network. I have
tested my desktop and another clean install of Vista on a virtual machine and
both display the same symptoms. I have tested this with both WSS 2.0 and WSS
3.0.
