accessing folders from lap top to desk top

accessing folders from lap top to desk top

when I go into network and click on my desk top icon I get 2 icons one public
the other user ,when I click on the user icon I go to public folder I dont
want public folders I want my other folders but I am at my wits end can
anyone help.
