Please help with odd connection issue.

Dear All,

I have a problem connecting to certain websites and services I cannot
use, and I cannot find a way to solve it.

I am running Vista SP 1 on an HP dv1110. Have Avast antivirus and
use the windows firewall.

The problem I have is the following:

Since two weeks I noticed that Mozy stopped working, it can no longer
connect to the servers to backup my files. So I went about checking
firewall exceptions and the like, but that did not solve the problem.

Then when I upgraded to the new internet explorer, also all HTTPS
sites such as internet banking or outlook webmail from my university
stopped working. I switched to firefox. However, with FF 3.0.6 I could
use https sites, but since I upgraded to 3.0.7 and 3.0.8, it stopped
working there as well.

Now I am trying skype, and it can also not connect.

I suppose these events are all connected to each other, but I am not
sufficiently knowledgeable on how to resolve this issue. Can you help
me?

Check carefully the computer for any kind of Spywares.
Then perform these two processes.
