Computer on network not accessible message
I have 3 computers on a wired network with a linksys router. Two are XP and
the other is Vista Home Premium. All computers can see each other. The XP
machines can access each others shared files. The Vista machine can access
the shared files on the XP machines. However, clicking the Vista machine icon
on either of the XP machines results in this message: "\\Home is not
accessible. You might not have permission to use this network rescource.
Contact the administrator of this service to find out if y ou have access
permission. The network path was not found"
(Home is the name of the Vista computer) Any help with this issue is
appreciated.
thanks

Hi

A common complaint

try this

http://www.networkmagic.com/download/

it has a free 30 day trial period
and has solved many issues on this list

you will need to download and install in all computers
and run the variuos sections from there.

you may need to keep an eye on firewalls also
several third party ones are proving a problem
network magic should tell you

cheers for now

Keith D.

RE: Computer on network not accessible message
I have a similar problem. Do you have a password on your account(s) in the
Vista PC. Seems that to connect to Vista, you need to have a password for the
account on the PC you're connecting to. Probably something in the group
policies.

Ignore any third part stuff. Save yourself some money on something that can
be solved.

RE: Computer on network not accessible message
Thanks for the replies. Solved my own problem I think. Seems Vista computer
has McAfee AV installed. After a little searching I found it has a network
firewall. Disabled the firewall and now XP machines can access files on the
Vista machine.

RE: Computer on network not accessible message
Most connection issues generally are firewall related. If you disable the
McAfee firewall, I hope you have something protecting the network!
