I had Sound & Network icon missing & options greyed out. Logging
out/latest updates/etc failed to fix.
However, deleting
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local
Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \TrayNotify]
"PastIconsStream"
"IconStreams"
finally worked for me
