Ok you all had some decent ideas... except for a few which made me
wonder if they were just random responses...
I have had the same problem with a client's computer, can connect to
LAN computers and even look them up by DNS name, but can't ping any
internet DNS names while other computers on the network could.
I tried EVERYTHING on EVERY ARTICLE ABOUT THIS.
Heres what just solved it for me:
In Local Area Connection Properties, right below Internet Protocol
Version 4 there are two other items - "Link-Layer Topology Discovery
Mapper I/O Driver" and "Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder". I
unchecked them both, hit OK, and voila.
Had nothing to do with hardware. Vista Sucks.
