Cannot delete/rename offline files

I have several Vista Business SP1 notebooks connected to a SBS 2003
Domain with My docs redirection in place. the issue is as follows:

Non of the users can delete/rename files or folders when online OR
offline. I have located a MS Hotfix (KB942845) but this is an unproven
hotfix at this time. Is there another method of resolving this issue?
