Vista prompting for Network Security Key where there is none.

Ahoy!

My company provides free wireless internet for clients on-site, but we
cannot seem to get an Acer computer with Vista Home Premium 32bit
connected. There is no encryption for the connection, only a 9-letter
password. Vista has not prompted for a passoword, only for a Network
Security key, which can only be 5 or 13 characters. Trying either WEP
encryption or no Encryption, the "Connect to a network" window lists the
connection as, "The settings on this computer for the network do not
match the requirements of the network."

We have no enountered this problem on laptops with Windows XP. Any
advice or tips?

If there is No Encryption but a password it seems that you do not have
direct Wireless connection but some kind of a logon server (like RADIUD)
server.
If this is the case you probably need to make sure that the Acer Network is
correctly set to connect to professional Network.
