HELP! Wireless doesn't work, LAN does?

Just installed Vista Ultimate, everything works great but the wireless
connection. Previously I ran a Static IP on XP Pro, using Verizon DSL.
I have tried EVERYTHING . . . custom IP settings, different settings on
my router, even calling Verizon (huge waste of time). They said I have a
problem with my TCP/IP, that I don't even have the protocol installed,
and didn't specify whether it was with the TCP/IPv4 or v6.

BTW my network card is a Broadcom, if that helps

Just did a Vista Laptop for my boss that would not "wireless" connect
but, like you, would when wired.
Look at ALL the default wireless security settings for *that*
connection (IMHO and turn of UpnP): There was a mis-match that the
/wizards/ did not set correctly.

RE: HELP! Wireless doesn't work, LAN does?
I have this problem and have tried everything I can find. I've talked to
cable (modem) people, linksys, etc. I can connect with cable between new
Sony Vaio and router but I cannot connect without the cable. My wireless
status says it is connected locally but not to internet. I'm extremely
frustrated. I ran the Microsoft router test and it checked out fine.

what router (brand, model, hardware revision - and what firmware?)
is there newer firmware for your router?
what wireless card and what driver?

program on Microsoft referred to in another post for router and Vista and all
tested okay. Laptop is new Sony Vaio.

Re: HELP! Wireless doesn't work, LAN does?
the MS IGD test does not test wireless connectivity
Please upgrade to the 4.21.1 firmware from January 2007.

After you upgrade the firmware, please try using WPA or WPA2
security and report back with results.

We have the same device with V2.02.7 firmware and got WiFi connected "out
of the box" , so it may be safe to rule out the router as being the
culprit.
Make sure and double check that all your WiFi settings are correct
If it's any comfort to you, we can't get a connection via wire using a
Linksys AG21 modem/router [ which also check out OK with the M$ router
diagnostics] grrr.

Re: HELP! Wireless doesn't work, LAN does?
Suugest that you "clone" MAC address on the router and ensure that page is
saved before proceeding then check for internet access, hope that helps,

I have the same problem. Haven't found a cure for it yet.
