Network problems with Docking, VMWare, ATT wireless ...
I have a couple o finteresting network related problems. I should point out that they all work, but none of them together. Here is the basic gist of it all:
Dell D620 running Vista Ultimate (upgraded form XP)
internal WiFi
internal NIC
PCMCIA AT&T 3G card
Nic on my docking station
Running VMWare Workstation 6
When I am on the Doc in the office, or using WiFi on the road, all is well.
Problem Configs
============
1. If I pull the system off the dock and plug into the net directly (usuing same cable), it flakes out an puts me in a local only mode
2. If I connect the AT&T while the VMWare interfaces are enabled, it slaps the AT&T card in the unidentified network that is threw the VMWare interfaces in. If I disable the VMWare interfaces and connect, it correclty puts the AT&T conneciton in the "3G Conneciton" identificaiton that I had previously identified as a public connection. I can then re-enable the VMWare intrefaces and all works find (they end up in different networks)
3. I can't seem to be able to put the VMWare networks into their own group, they always show up in the Unidentified Network group
Any thoughts on any of these 3?
Thanks
