Sleep Causes lost of network connection
After manually invoking Sleep or Hibernation on a Dell Dimension 8400 with
Home Premium, the broadband cable connection is lost after the computer
wakes. It says in the Event Viewer: User caused disconnect. To correct this,
I must right click on network icon, choose Diagnose & Repair, let it scan and
then reset the adapter. The error is "cannot connect to the DNS server." The
Broadcom NIC adapter is connected by ethernet to the MS Router. Is there
anything that can be done?

Thanks. Tried changing the speed which had been set to Auto, but that doesn't
work. I had no trouble at all with this setup in Win XP and I'm not the only
one having this problem with Vista Sleep. In Vista Network Discovery is
always turned off after Sleep when I check Network & Sharing. The router is
always disabled, too. Enabling the router and/or turning discovery on seems
to allow a reconnect, as well as resetting the adapter. The Network icon
shows connected when it first wakes, then a red X, then no symbol and it
connects only to the Local Network.

No, not on the Vista computer. Router is connected with ethernet. Laptop uses
the wireless, but that has XP.
