Connect vista laptop to mac wireless network
My vista laptop originally connected to the internet through a mac wireless
network, but once i restarted, it will now only connect as a local network
and I can't access the internet.

If I look at the 'Network and Sharing Center' on the Vista laptop it says
that the laptop is connected to the network, which is connected to the
gateway, but the gateway is not connected to the internet.

At the same time, I have an XP desktop with the same problem, but 3 mac
computers can connect to the internet with no problems.

Can anyone help with diagnosing this?

add defult gateway and and your wireless routers defult gateway. do this
on both vista and xp. this should get you connected to internet.

Hope this helps

Re: Connect vista laptop to mac wireless network
Hi john_cena,

Thanks for your advice.

I have now tried this - on the mac I found the 'router' field (I am told is
the default gateway terminology on a mac) and followed your instructions to
insert that number in the default gateway field in Vista and XP and both
computers are still only connecting to the network locally.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks, Bea

hi Bea_aust81,

Once the defult gateway is put also put your ISP s DNS server IP
address in the DNS Tab. this should definitly connect you with the
internet.
