It is not clear to me what is that you have Network Hardware wise.
If the Router is Wireless and the Laptop is Wireless you can set the laptop
to work with it. Otherwise you need a Ethernet port for each computer.
If both computer connect to the Router and can use the Internet (wire or
Wireless), then it is just a matter of setting the computers Sharing.
