Laptop connected, but no internet (plz help)
i just got a new vista laptop and i have connected to my home router
when i first got it. the next day i couldnt connect at all (well) it
says im connected, with full bars but i cant seem to be able to browse
the internet or get any kind of internet connectivity. i've search and
tried the the whole disabling QoA and IPv6, but that doesnt work,
neither does uninstalling or repairing the wifi driver thing. is there a
real solution to this? can someone please help me.
(i also removed the Norton program, but still nothing)

Did you disable the windows firewall?
Can you PING-by-number and PING-by-name, both from your laptop to
another PC on that router; and, from another PC to your laptop
(both ways)?
What does IPCONFIG/ALL show? Hint: click on Start, AllPrograms,
Accessories, CommandPrompt; then type IPCONFIG/ALL >IPCONFIG.TXT
and copy that .TXT file into a reply.

Re: Laptop connected, but no internet (plz help)
I don't see that you disabled IPv6 as you said you did. What router
do you have? does it have the latest firmware? is it on the Vista
HCL list?

Re: Laptop connected, but no internet (plz help)
the router isnt on the list, its a Westell D90-327W15-06 (guessing why),
and i had disabled the IPv6 one, but when i "diagnose/repair" it i think
it switches back. also the computer hooked directly to the router is a
Mac OSX, but im pretty sure that doesnt have anything to do with it.
also i've tried connecting to a linksys in my area but the same happens.

Re: Laptop connected, but no internet (plz help)
I got the same problem, when i connect it via Wireless it recognise my
network but no internet connection available. However, when I connect it via
LAN it does not recognise my network at all, the network name "Unidentify
network" even thought there is a name attached to the network.
I have this same problem with my other Vista Business machine but I can fix
it by disable/enable the adapter but with the Toshiba R400, nothing happens.
I have updated my router with the latest firmware, and Ms have tested my
router to be Vista compatible...

Re: Laptop connected, but no internet (plz help)
okay thanks all for the help i figured out what it was, it was my
security program, Avira AntiVir, i noticed because for somereason this
same problem happened on my XP computer today, then i was like, thats
gotta be it. so i uninstalled Avira dn now my internet works, thanks all
for time. Dan if you have Avira, i'd suggest uninstalling it, or just
try uninstalling your Antivirus program and see if it works.

Re: Laptop connected, but no internet (plz help)
thanks for the update. I personally use NOD32 AV from Eset and
Windows Firewall on all my computers, so if you are looking for a
recommendation to replace Avira..
