Network Discovery is surely one of the most undeveloped areas in
Vista. My two computer 'network' has all the right services running
and the settings set for discovery, but it only works for a while
after the machines are booted up, although when the other machine
disappears from either machine's network map, they can both ping
each other by IP and machine name. Rebooting is necessary! (This
never happens with Unix </grumble>)

Make sure workstation service is running. If it is, it could be a 3rd party
software. For troubleshooting, start the Vista with clean boot. Please post
back with the result.
