USB 2.o flash drive

I cannot get my flash drive to transfer data from vista to XP the flash drive
people say its because vista cannot go backwards therefore xp opens a word
doc from vista as giberish. I want to transfer files back and forth between
xp and vista. HELP!!

I think there are some mixed issues here. Can you read the flash drive in
each computer? Can you transfer simple files between the two? Try a .txt
file. or a .jpg file. Then we can see about your Word files. What version
are they on each?

If one computer is using Office/Word 2007 do Save As and choose to save the
file as Word 2003 Doc.
