Removing secondary 'ghost' network
I've been running Vista for a couple of month now and the network
connection, through my Linksys router, worked just fine, until MS
suggested that I do an 'in-place upgrade' (repair).
After the 'upgrade' I always have TWO network connections when I turn
on the PC. One is an 'UnIdentified Public Network' and the second is
'MyNet Private Network', both on 'Local Area Connection 2'.
The Vista Network and Sharing center shows a big red X near the Earth
image and, of course, I have no Internet access.
I can easily click on either one of the network 'view status' links
and disable 'Local Area Connection 2', then re-enable that connection
and all is fine. I can also just click on the red X and select repair
to fix the problem.
Any ideas how I can get my rather simple network connection to start
up correctly without this procedure every time I turn the PC on or re-
boot?
Thanks,
Tim
