Re: Print Server
Thanks for the response. To fill in the background, I have a network of 6
desktops and a laptop. Three run on XPHome, 2 on XPPro, 1 on Win2000. The
laptop, which ran on XPHome, I gave to my wife and replaced it with a new one
running on Vista Home Premium.
For the majority of my printing I have an HP Laserjet 4M on a Netgear
ethernet print server. This has worked without problems for many years.
Vista, although it recognizes the printer and server in the network, will not
connect to it. Netgear states they have no print servers compatible with
Vista at this time. Contacts with other manufacturers yielded nothing
definitive. "Try it and if it doesn't work, bring it back" was the prevalent
theme. I would like to retain the LaserJet/Server combination.
I recently purchased a Brother MFC with wireless networking, basically for
the wife and its remote location capability. This incorporated easily into
the network and has worked flawlessly with all three operating systems.
Any help would be appreciated.
