View Full Map Network Sharing
Hi

Why does the VISTA Network Map not show machines that are in another subnet?
We have machines both Vista and XP on several different subnets all in the
network range 172.16.0.0 /16 seperated by switches and routers.

Does it only work at layer 2?

The XP machines have the LLTD installed and the required registry entries.

Cheers

Yes -- Link Layer Topology Discovery occurs at the Link Layer. A switch
should appear on the map, along with other machines past the switch. A
router should appear, but I don't believe machines past a router will.

RE: View Full Map Network Sharing
Hi Raji,

yes the underlying LLTD protocol that Network map uses works in Layer 2 and
applies only to the scope of the subnet.
