Re: Printer sharing-another issue
I thouhgt I'd finally found the answer to my issues and was carefully
following your steps. I got as far as "manually add a new Local Port with:
>
> \\computer_name\shared_printer_name" at which time I got an error message that says The network name cannot be found." Prior to pursuing your suggestion, the error message I was getting was "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000000d)."
Any ideas??
Thanks in advance.

Re: Printer sharing-another issue
What's the real shared printer name? If the shared printer name has space
between these three words, you need to add quotation for example \\computer
name\shared printer name".

Re: Printer sharing-another issue
The printer name is Dell AIO Printer A940, so a good thought, but the
quotation marks didn't impact the outcome. Sigh...

Re: Printer sharing-another issue
Hmmm...it's been a while since I looked at this (the last post I got on this
was November 25th, so it's been a while since I set it up and the details are
a bit foggy, but I believe so. I used the wizard on my desktop to set it
up. It would be great to resolve this. Thanks.

In the posts above, you say that you're getting " ...The network name cannot be
found." That error is generally a personal firewall problem, on either the
server (the computer with the printer) or the client (where you are).

more tightly written.

And my instructions on networking a computer running Vista, in general, might be
relevant too.
