ending network sync partnership on vista Ultimate

I am trying to end a sync partnership for offline files to a machine that
does not exist any more how can i do this. The files i need to sync with are
now on another file server.

There is no delete function on a right click for the folders which are sync
over the network.

Hello John,

you have to manually remove the unwanted network sync partnership under the
C:\windows\CSC\v2.0.6\namespace folder, but you cannot open this folder
directly, you need to take ownership this folder, and then open it , delete
unwanted sync partnership folder.

Had same problem, followed Randy's advice, removing folder manually was hard,
but it didn't remove sync partnership. It is still defined in Sync Center,
just the folder and files aren't there any more. This probably worsened
situation, so people don't follow advice of manual folder removal. Whole this
Sync feature is crappy, some application or windows itself created sync
partnership without asking or logging it anywhere, administrator isn't even
owner of folders and files being synced, and there is no way to delete

We have dozens of new Dell Vista Business laptops with sync partnerships that
we cannot delete. Some of the partnerships are to network drives that the
laptop is not even mapped to anymore, yet the sync still works! Some are to
file folders that people don't want to be sync to and we cannot make the sync
partnership go away. Followed the same old same old advice but in the end we
have not found one partnership that allowed delete. There seems to be no
forum anywhere that can solve this problem, and I suspect MS has 1000's of
sync partnerships they would like to delete but cannot. As CIO for this
company I am recommending we wipe all the new laptops and go back to XP Pro,
which actually works. If this is MS idea of a new operating system after all
the years they have had to get it right, I think Linux and OpenOffice may be
a better corporate decision for us.

Has anyone got any further with this? I moved the "Music" shortcut this
evening to point at a NAS device that has all my multimedia on it. Vista has
now decided to automatically sync this device to my computer, which is the
last thing I want. It wont let me change the attributes and every time I try
it resets the folder to "available offline" It has yet to realise that there
will be insufficient space to make the folder offline.

Any help would be appreciated, I really don't need two copies of my music!

You may be able to simply delete the files if there is no longer a viable
computer to connect to - delete them through explorer on the guest machine?

As far as ending the sync relationships, I found that if you go to the
source machine with the original files and turn off sharing, the option to
uncheck "always available off-line" is now available on the sync guest
machine for those files. After you turn them off on the guest machine, you
can go back and turn the sharing back on for the host machine and the sync is
undone.
