Since the biggest change was XP to Vista, not a change in IE
you could try using a different browser and compare problem symptoms
from it.

That's unfortunate but not uncommon. E.g. it would mean that your ISP's
service was borderline and Vista was the tipping point for it.

Such as? You should not have to restart your computer just to refresh
your link to the Internet.

BTW as this has more to do with your OS than with IE (especially
if your link can only be restarted by rebooting), you may get more
informed help from a newsgroup which specializes in networking
for Vista.

Good luck

Re: internet connection problems
OK, i can not find where to ask a question on this news group!
My queswtion is:

ie7 will not read html code generated by front page 2003 to follow a link
from a click on a .jpg. The icon is in a frame. It works in all previous
versions of ie and in firefox, etc.

Please tell me how to start a thread!

Where are you posting from? I cross-posted this from IE General
to Vista Networking for the OP. Please start your own thread in
IE General only. If you must hijack someone else's thread
at least please choose one which is not cross-posted!
(And try doing a search to find one which is more relevant to your problem
anyway.)

You are using a web interface to newsgroups.
The UI for your interface may depend on the specific portal you are using.
We don't know the portal you are using unless you post the URL that you have
in your Address bar.

If your UI has a Help button try using it. E.g. there is a link in there which
specifically explains how to "Post a new question".

http://www.microsoft.com/wn3/locales...ostNewQuestion

In case you can't spot the New button in your UI try also searching in the Help
for keyboard shortcuts. Usually you can start a new thread by clicking on the
New button or by pressing Alt-M,Enter and using the New button's popup menu.
If you don't see a popup menu it's possible that you have a popup stopper
active which is inhibiting its display; so then you would have to disable that.
Etc.

Are you using Vista? There are already several discussions about problems
rendering images on it in the IE General newsgroup, mostly about .png images
but perhaps the same ideas (such as using Run As... Administrator) would
work.

That? What? I gave you more than one suggestion. ; ]

Hopefully there is a Firefox or other browser proponent who would be more
than pleased to help you do that... ; }

I have already cross-posted your question to a newsgroup for Vista Networking.
Since you are using a web interface to newsgroups, depending on the portal
you are using you may be able to enter that newsgroup simply by clicking on
the other newsgroup's name in the header of this post.

Good luck

Re: internet connection problems
Hello Robert A-
Thanks for your resonce! I will read up on the process and re-post my
observation on ie7 in the right place (I hope ;-).

I do not think it is a vista problem since ie7 acts the same on an xp machine.

Will I get free software if I have discovered a glitch??

Fine. All the more reason then not to further confuse this cross-posted
discussion with your interjections. OP very definitely does have a Vista-only
problem.

No.

Try a search?

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...ef(vs.71).aspx

(Live Search for
UI abbreviations site:microsoft.com
)

<quote>
Where appropriate, use well-known acronyms to replace lengthy phrase names.
For example, use UI for User Interface
</quote>

BTW finding a plain definition of it was harder than I expected.
Evidently it is thought to be so well known that a Glossary item
isn't even necessary!

So, did you try Alt-M,Enter there?

Good luck
