Upload MiniDV video hangs on Vista Ultimate
I have a new Dell latitude D630, 2MB RAM, Intel T7300 processor, 128MB NVIDIA
Quadro NVS 135M- should be plenty fast. My video camera is a Canon ZR60,
using 4pin-4pin 1394 cable. When I plug in camera, vista recognizes it and
launches CaptureWizard to upload video. I have tried 2 of the 3 options: WMV
format as a single file, limited to 5-10 minutes, and as WMV broken up into
separate files at each break in video. On both settings, after a while, the
CaptureWizard hangs up, while the camera continues to play back. Computer is
completely frozen and I must do a hard reboot. This has happened 6-7 times.
I fast-forwarded a bit to see if the problem was a faulty section of the
video, but got the same results. It seemed to freeze at different points in
the video, so I could not see a pattern. I have not tried uploading as AVI,
and I have not tried disabling AERO interface.
Canon website says my camera is fully compatible with Vista. I have no canon
software installed - just using native Windows vista to upload. All updates
are installed. Driver says it is working correctly. I am using driver version
6.0.6000.16386. Any ideas on how to get this video uploaded would be
appreciated.
