Burning problems

I have been having problems doing burning DVD's and thought I would pass it
out to see if anyone can assist in resolving the issued.

When burning to a DVD-R It keeps saying this dvd is not blank, or put a
blank dvd in the drive.....However it is blank.

When using a DVD Rewrite it will allow the first burn but not when trying to
burn a new item on it. Keeps asking for a blank disk.

I have formatted as required.

I am trying to use various programs, however each is showing a problem.

The main one I use is DVD Santa
I no longer use Nero due to the problems that I previously encountered

I have scratched my head, scratched my bum but im still at square one.....

Any guidance would be appreciated.
