MC Shuts Down

When I try to burn a recorded TV show and select a DVD to record on, I get an
error message that "Media Center has stopped working". Any ideas???

I get the same thing on a new Sony desktop. Sony support wants me to use the
restore function to start from scratch, like he__ I will.
