Edit Line Cuts are way out of sync

Is anyone else experiencing problems when cutting footage on the timeline, I
am editing
recorded TV and when I cut out the Ads etc if seems fine in WMM but once
saved as any format, some of removed footage remains, yet I seem to be
cutting
in all the right places? It is not a frame or two but anything from 5 to 70
seconds!

I have the timeline expanded to show maximum frames and I have tried every
which
way without much success.

Any suggestions as to cause or a solution?

System:
Vista Ultimate with all updates on a quad core with 4gig ram and 20"
monitor.

I gave up editing recorded programs until I came across DVR-MS Editor
which is part of a DVR-MS toolkit written by Stephen Toub -- an MS
employee. It isn't perfect but the cuts are where I make them and well
within the 5 seconds you're experiencing (probably within 1 frame).

DVR-MS Editor *should* be available from Microsoft.com but the link is
broken and the author doesn't know why :-)
