Vista is sorely lacking the ability to change the midi mapper from the
default Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. I have a Creative X-Fi, and want to use
high-quality soundfonts - but I can't, because Vista won't give me the option
to change the midi output device to the X-Fi.
Does anyone know a registry hack to change the default mapper? And
Microsoft, I hope this is something you're looking into fixing in the first
Service Pack
