Can files be restored from player to computer?

The tech guys gave me a new computer while I was out one day and lost all my
music files. Is it possible to restore them to my computer from my MP3
player?

What make MP3?
Was there software/connection cables supplied with the player?
If so read the MP3 Manual to find out how to connect it to your computer!!!!
I can connect mine and transfer files both ways.

I play music files on my Dell Axim (Pocket PC) using Media Player Mobile. I
can move the files back but they won't play. The sync feature in Media Player
won't recognize the files on my device that aren't already in the library on
my PC, and just copying the files off the device back on to my hard drive
doesn't work either. I'm wondering if it has something to do with some kind
of file protection on the files themselves to keep them from being shared.
