.MP4 files extended to Xbox 360 via Vista MCE

Without the use of a third party tool, is there a way I can share my .mp4
video files (which was recently added to the Xbox 360) via the Windows Media
Center?

I did find that I can share these by downloading the Zune software, but it
makes no sense that this supports the sharing of .mp4 files natively, but
Media Center does not.

The Xbox doesn't even see .mp4 files via Windows Media Center. I was hoping
by being Microsoft "Pure" (Running latest everything by Microsoft, I wouldn't
have to be using 3rd party tools, etc. to do a task so simple).

As an addendum. MP4s aren't even working with Zune. They display, but when
I choose them the Xbox freezes completely.
In reality I want Divx to play or at least something of similar sze and
quality (hence mp4). I don't want to bloat my movies 6x to .wmv format.
