media player is saying no sound device connected error=COOD11BA

can any1 tell me how to fix this problem as i do have speakers connected.
Why has it recently stopped working, is it something i have i done?

Sorry - Make that Control Panel<Personalization>Sounds>Playback.
If "disabled" or not showing, right click and "enable". Wayne.
