Strange iTunes behavior on Vista
microsoft.public.windows.vista.music pictures video
I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem... But I only got my
computer 4 days ago, so I doubt my computer is already corrupted.
Initiially I added my iTunes library from my previous computer onto the new
one with no problems. However, when I go to add new music, a message comes up
and says the iTunes library cannot be saved because I don't have the
authorization. I am the administrator on the computer, and was signed into
that account, so I'm not sure how much more authorized I can be. Is there
somewhere else where I can set options for the administrator? Thanks
Similar issues for me today, even after downloading the latest iTunes that is meant to be Vista compatible. I tried to sync...and was told I didn't have enough permission to do that. My Shuffle knew I was an administrator (I haven't tried my IPod Video yet--I'm afraid it'll be fried). But sometimes I can sync...other times...I get that message. I've tried the Apple forums, but still haven't found a fix for this craziness...

It might not be Vista that is causing problems. I have just put my video
ipod onto my new dell and I got a similar message from itunes. I think it is
because apple don't want people sharing music between ipods so they limit how
many pc's you can use your ipod with - 5 I think. The question I got with my
ipod was did I want to authorize my ipod with this PC, clicked yes and have
had no problems at all.
Hope this helps

No, this is a different issue, and it is Vista related, according to their forums and some Apple bulletins on the subject. The problem is how to solve it! I'm authorized to use this one, and there are no issues there. It's about how sometimes the Shuffle will sync beautifully, and then after a few songs...the popups begin. I tried syncing manually, but it's a pain! After the update, I thought I had it made, and then it started to lock me out again! So I can do about five songs...and then I have to shut iTunes down, and either start over...or drag and drop. Not so bad for my Shuffle, but if I have to do that with the big IPod...wow. What a time consumer that'll be!

Yeah, I have a Windows Vista computer, and it is brand new, I just got
it Monday. The syncing was working fine, but iTunes kept freezing/not
responding, so Windows told me to upgrade. I did, and now it's giving
me that weird sync error...
Go to the iTunes file and select properties and security, select advanced and
take ownership of the file.

Nope. I'm now the administrator, I've taken ownership and even unchecked the "read only" box on all the music folders on the computer...and it still will NOT work.

Wow! I'm reading some forums and discover that Winamp will transfer/sync files from IPods. So I go get the free version, and lo and behold...I can sync now. No problem. Drag and drop or make a playlist and sync...however you want it. ITunes won't work, but Winamp's fine! Give it a try!

I'm having the same problem except that I'm using Zune.
I have already taken ownership of the file as you describe but the reult is
the same. I get the message box titled "Apply Properties File" and the
following message in the box "An unexpected error is preventing the
operation. Make note of this error code, which might be useful if you get
additional help to resolve this problem: Error 0xC00D0026: No description
available."
