WMP 11 in Vista Ultimate stopped being able to update media librar

My Windows Media Player 11 in Windows Vista Ultimate has stopped allowing
updates. This means I can't rate any songs, download files from Urge or
anything else which involves updating the library. I've tried turning off all
startups (except the Microsoft startups), disabling all services (again
except the Microsoft services) with no success. It won't allow me to share
the library (it says there is a problem with another component of Windows).
I've tried everything I could think of with no luck.

Any ideas or debugging things I should try?
