All I want to do is simply 'reverse' a movie file.

I would like to do this with Windows Movie Maker.

you can't do it with Movie Maker... see my website's Edit Movies > Video >
Reverse Effect page for ways to do it with other software... then bring the
reversed clip into Movie Maker to use in your project.
