Missing Thumbnail Pictures

Earlier I was cleaning up my files for lack of space and I think
accidently I deleted something that made the thumbnails to preview
pictures and videos visable.
Now it only shows placemarkers. The files still work fine, it is just
that I can't see what it is before hand without clicking on it.
Is there any way that I can fix this
