Problems During Making

I'm making an AMV to register in a contest, but after a certain amount
of time working on that AMV I see that WMM ceases to function as it is
supposed to. It freezes momentarily in mid song as well as the picture,
though the mark that tells me the clip is still working is going, then
comes back on a few seconds later. Other times it has the song start at
different places depending on where I press if I do not start from the
beginning. It is getting to be very difficult to use accuracy for my AMV
because of this. Any reason why?
