New Vista- cant view old jpeg files

i bought a new laptop with the 64bit Vista, and transfered my old
pictures to it from the old 32bit Vista computer i had. now all my
picture files were changed somehow in the transfer and became "read only
files" like they are text and i cant change them back. NO PROGRAM will
view the files, even on other computers.

HELP on how to change the jpeg files back? please
