Vista x64 and Firewire for MiniDV video transfer

I just ordered an ADAPTEC 5 Port 1394 & USB IEEE FIREWIRE COMBO PCI CARD and
it states to work under Windows 98SE/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista and Mac OS.

On the other hand, I read on some forums that Vista *dropped* Firewire and
no cards will work...

Can I expect the card to work or not, also considering that my Vista (Home
Premium) version is a 64bit OS ?

I just used Firewire for miniDV video transfer on my Vista 32bit system last
week, so that would be news to me. Worked fine here with my card.
