yahoo messenger and sound and different user accounts

Dear All,

my yahoo messenger (v9.0) can create sounds in one user account but not in a
different user account.
Anybody any clue?
I already reinstalled yahoo messenger.
Sounds are not disabled in either user account -- windows sounds still are
fine.
I also found the slider for yahoo messenger sounds and it is at maximum.
