Cannot get video on WMP 11

I am unable to get video to play on Windows Media Player 11. Audio is fine.
The codec that is installed is MainConcept (Adobe2) MPEG Video Decoder, and
not msmpeg2vdec.dll . I have tried to use the Windows decoder utility to set
it as the preferred codec, to no avail. WMP used to play all my mpeg-2
files, but suddenly it just will not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What happens if you remove the MainConcept decoder?

i use the (ffdshow) code pack and it plays everything with no trouble at
all. give it a try and see if it helps you.
