Installing the Vista Codec Package should
enable Windows Media Player to play your
..mp4 files.

FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a
System Restore point before installing any
new software:

Good luck...

Re: mp4 file in Vista

This Is How I Did It.
Download & Install: x64Components_v151
'Vista Codec Package -> Downloads -> x64Components_v152.exe | Software
- Digital Digest'

Download & Install: ffdshow_beta5_rev2033_20080705_clsid
'SourceForge.net: Files'

Okay Now That You Have The Codecs You Need To Modify Your Registry So
Windows Media Player & Windows Media Center Will Read The Files And
Thumbnail The Videos. ATTACHED is a zip file, Just double click the
files to import them into the registry, i included DivX, Mov and Mkv as
well as Mp4......Good Luck.

backup your registry first...is always a good idea...Peace

I installed the code pack and it's working great.
Thanks a lot. It's good to know someone that
has the knowledge and is willing to share.
