new Movie Maker tip
I received an email from someone this morning who uses the VOB files on
discs from a DVD camcorder as source files for Movie Maker projects.... the
user was wondering how the thumbnail images in the collection can be
maintained as different discs get put in.

Other file properties get mixed also... I just added this tip #7 to my Vista
> Importing page.

============================

If you're using Movie Maker 6 on a Vista Home Premium or Ultimate version,
you can use the vob files on DVDs as sources of video.
Be aware of how much you can confuse Movie Maker and yourself by using
different discs. To meet disc playing standards the file names on the discs
are the same. Import VTS_01_1.VOB from 3 different discs and the thumbnails
and other file property info in the collection database get mixed as the
path and file name are the same. The confusion can result in real havoc in
your projects that rely on a particular disc. It could be embarassing to
render a movie, not aware that a different disc is currently in your DVD
drive. Movie Maker will use what's in the drive at the moment.

=============================

Being aware of it is important. How one deals with it varies with the user.
